Has Harry Kane achieved all he can at Tottenham? Striker linked with summer move
Throughout what has undoubtedly been another disappointing season for Tottenham Hotspur, the North London club has at least been able to rely on one constant in the ever-changing world of the Premier League: Harry Kane and his remarkable ability to score or create goals for his team. To date, the England international has bagged 26 goals and five assists in all competitions, with only Manchester City star Erling Haaland scoring more in the English top-flight this season.
However, while Daniel Levy and whoever the club appoints to replace Antonio Conte in the coming months would hope to rely on the senior striker to continue playing a pivotal role at Spurs next season, there’s certainly a growing sense that Kane has achieved all that he can with the club. And, should an enticing offer arrive in the summer, may instead opt for a new challenge at another club, following his unprecedented success with Spurs over the past 10 seasons.
No more lands to conquer - Kane’s record at Tottenham
Not only is Kane Tottenham’s best player and obvious talisman in attack, but the striker also became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer this season, when he overtook Jimmy Greaves’ record of 268 goals in all competitions. As things stand, the England international currently sits on 274 goals in all competitions for the club and it’s unlikely that anyone will be able to take that away from the London-born talent anytime soon.
Not only that, but Kane has also gone above and beyond in the Premier League too, where the towering striker has far surpassed his contemporaries and once again set a record that will take some beating. Since making his debut for Tottenham in the 2013/14 season, Kane has gone on to bag a remarkable 207 league goals. And in that same period the next best goalscorer in the Premier League was former Man City striker Sergio Agüero, who could only muster 149 goals. In other words, Kane’s dominance of the English top-flight has been completely undisputed during his time at Tottenham.
Bayern, Man Utd or Chelsea? Clubs interested in Kane
As such, there’s a growing sense that Kane may now be ready for a new challenge and according to reports across Europe, there are a number of big clubs that could look to try and entice the Tottenham player away from his club in the summer transfer window. According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are long-term admirers of the striker and have made the signing of a new centre forward their main priority this summer. Similarly, the Independent reports that while Kane is keen to remain in England, Bayern Munich are preparing an “attractive offer” to entice the striker to the Bundesliga. And considering Levy’s famed reluctance to sell star players to other Premier League clubs, a move away from England may be greenlit long before a potential move to Old Trafford this summer.
Meanwhile, former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp believes Kane could be tempted to jump ship to Chelsea if Mauricio Pochettino takes over at Stamford Bridge. “It will be interesting if Pochettino goes to Chelsea,” said Redknapp to the Beyond the Pitch podcast. “That wouldn’t go down well with the Tottenham fans at all, that's for sure. It’s a great move for him and I think he’s [Harry Kane] building a house in that area.” Either way, as he enters the final 12 months of his contract this summer, it seems certain that Kane’s future will be decided one way or another in the coming months.
